The Rising Stars Committee is a team of young professionals in the GTA, comprised of community-minded, driven individuals across all major sectors. As true champions of wish children, we plan and execute fundraising events throughout the year. 

An ideal candidate has a passion for what we do, is excited to grow professionally and personally, and is keen to build support for Make-A-Wish® within the community.

  • To be part of a global organization that creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

    To be mentored by our Corporate Cabinet members.

    To be part of an influential, innovative group of young leaders, impacting Canadian kids and families.

    To be part of the Make-A-Wish community, including invitations to our key events and activities with the chance to interact directly with our wish families.

  • As a committee, plan and execute one or more fundraising events, with a goal of raising $25K each year for Make-A-Wish. (goals are being re-evaluated due to the pandemic)

    Sell event tickets, secure sponsorship, assist with marketing and public relations.

    Serve as Make-A-Wish Ambassadors – attending corporate and community events, presenting on behalf of Make-A-Wish, and assisting with volunteer events.

    Assist in making introductions to Corporate Social Responsibility committees within organizations and being an advocate for Make-A-Wish among co-workers.

    Provide strategic support and expertise on innovative event and fundraising ideas, as well as providing guidance on new methods of communication and technology.

    Exact duties will vary by committee.

  • Time commitment varies by position, but you can expect about 5-10 hours per month as a committee member, 10-15 hours a month as a committee lead and around 15 hours per month as an executive committee member. The full committee meets approximately once a month in the evening.
